there is one the size of a penny and some smaller little spots. I think it may be oil from my perfume oil burner as it smells perfumey (no idea how I managed to get that on it though) The coat is 76% wool and 24% polyamide. How do I get it out? I'm worried about taking it to a dry cleaners in case they use something on it that will make it worse (have had bad experiences with dry cleaners in the past, after all, they have a disclaimer against it going wrong and it's not their coat!)

The coat sounds very comfy and with that type of material, i can see why youd be afraid to try to get it out yourself. Trust the drycleaners (afterall its their job)

difficult to advise you without seeing it. If it is oil you can use something like lighter fuel with a cotton pad of some sort to soak it up but the danger is that you remove the oil and leave the stain in the material. This probably what went wrong the last time you used a cleaners. Personally I don't know what sort of disclaimer you are talking about but no cleaner will take responsibility to totally remove every stain as they have no way of knowing what the customer had done to it prior to them getting it,. I know I am an ex professional cleaner but I think you best bet is to go and get some advice from a dry cleaner. If you ask about you might find someone who would recommend a cleaner who had given them some help in the past but I regret with stains although a good cleaner can remove 95% there is no guarantee

If you still have the reciept take it back and see if you can get a refund. It might of been on there when you bought it.

If not, i would at least attempt the dry cleaners. You could try handwashing it yourself and try a little 'vanish' clothes stain remover.

trust the cleaners they will have no problem in removing this type of stain. If you mess with it yourself you might fix the stain.
