Literally, numbers do stop. I have seen written, moving numbers in videos and in person come to a halt. However, I don't think that's quite what you're asking. There are an infinite amount of numbers from (-)infinity to infinity. Also, even within limits such as 1-10 there are an infinite amount of possible numbers: 1.1, 1.11, 1.111. However, numbers are representations of figures. Since this is the case, we are asking, what is the largest measurement you can take. If you assume that our universe has ends, the length of the universe would be the largest length. However, more than one dimension exists and we have no reason to presume that our universe does not go on forever in all directions other than the fact that we can't comprehend it. Also, we perceive several dimensions including length, width, height, and time. Mathematically an infinite number of dimensions can be worked. Knowing this, it is clear that even infinity itself is not the largest figure. Larger would be infinity by infinity. This would actually result in infinity square units, seemingly pushing us again toward thinking that infinity is the largest number possible, however, please realize that 1 square unit certainly encompasses more than 1 linear unit. By this knowledge, we can say that most certainly, the largest number is the figure infinity to the infinite power(representing infinite dimensions). This is where numbers stop. However, I must happily admit that one number escapes this digital apocolypse. This number is represented by the letter i(for imaginary). This is the square root of negative one, and it cannot be found along the number line negative infinity to infinity, and likewise cannot be found within the reaches of our largest figure. It is somewhere else entirely. If something is outside of our largest figure and is not the number i, it is not a number. These boundaries are where numbers stop.
