I really enjoyed this movie... I'd say if you can duplicate the character on screen, especially her mannerisms, you'll nail the part.

Wow!!! You sure have a powerful part to play and I have seen the movie a couple of times. It is a very good movie.
Demi Moore was JoAnne Galloway, and she is one great actress.
My Suggestion is maybe you could start at this webpage.

Definitely, lots of research and maybe hire the video or dvd and watch it over again.
Good Luck with the play.
Originally, this was written by Aaron Sorkin as a Broadway Play and made into a movie from there.

Joanne (or Jo as she likes to be called) is a brilliant attorney. She is ambitious and overly concerned with the way others see her. She feels that she is held back by a male-dominated military and as a result, she is extremely competitive; seemingly using the courtroom as her stage. She takes pride in confounding her opposition by using her knowledge of the law to turn simple trials into major events often going on for months. When she is assigned to the murder trial as co-counsel, she is at first angry that she is not lead counsel. Her competitiveness nearly blows the case several times. In the course of the trial, her character transitions from supreme competitor to ultimate team player when she finally sees Lt. Kaffee's talent.
This is an excellent role for a strong actress.

I loved this movie I must have seen twenty times. I've always felt Demi Moore's character was cold ad distant, yet very humane. She for sure is very straight and wouldn't go off limits like break the law or do something stupid. Now how do you play that... I have no idea!
