I honestly dont think it is a Great Color Combo, but if you want suggestions I would go with a baby or Carolina Blue and dark brown.

Not everyone agrees because this is a color combination that has not been in popular usage much until lately. If you like it, I'd do it.

One caveat: be careful with the shades, like you said. If you remember your art classes, brown is a combination of blue, red, and yellow, the three primaries. Brown can take on various tints based on using more of one of the three. If you put a light greeny blue with a yellowy brown... won't look so great. But a blue-y brown with a light blue that looks like it could have been used to make that brown? Go! =) Have fun and wear what YOU like!

Blue and Brown do go together, you just got to have the right shades of it. Turquoise and brown go together really good. I think layering the two colors is really pretty. I have been seeing people wear them two colors together lately and it looks really good together.

I do scrap booking and they look great together. a Friend painted her bedroom with sky blue and chocolate brown stripes that are 8 inches wide and it looks awesome. I am wearing brown Capri's with a blue shirt and i look fine! I think it is a matter of personal taste.

They definitely go perfect together, every tone of them.
Don't listen to these silly Americans who are used to buying their clothes from grocery stores like wal-mart or some kind of cheap ugly mart. So the number one rule is never ever buy your clothes where you walk two more isles and buy butter.

I can show you right now a whole bunch of designer pieces with this pair of colors, or bikini sets that have the colors blue and brown or home decorations and such.

Beyond everything these two matching colors are in the nature itself, eath and sky or sand and ocean. They go so well together. Just trust me.
