A loudspeaker is a device for turning a varying voltage into sound waves that you can hear. The advantage of using a loudspeaker is that you can hear the sounds your computer is making. The disadvantage is that you will keep your roommate awake if you turn the volume up too high.

with loudspeaker you could hear sound from your PC (e.g. from songs, films, games, etc).

Advantage - you hear audio output from your PC.
Disadvantage - could be a distraction in the workspace.

It could be very very cheap £5 or very very expensive £500 depends on the quality you want.
