I would think between 10-12. There is just no comprehension about what's happening.

i would say early teenage through 16,17 ish,,they have grown up secure which is great but it also gives the impression this is the way families should be to stay together,,teenagers often copy how their parents relationships are and for a teenager to suddenly have the rug pulled out from under them gives the impression nothing is what it seems and that all they thought about how to treat someone, talk to someone,,be with someone successfully now guarentees nothing,,in their eyes their parents relationship has stood the test that many did not and it makes them feel secure,,divorce at this age can be too much. just my opinion.

I don't think is ever a good time for parents to get a divorce, it creates havoc in the family. Mind you I left my guy when the kids were 2 and 4 - I think we have a better "friendship" then when we were married.... so don't ask me.

Younger than 19, as long as you are living at home as a minor I think most kids, more so the girls, find a way to blame themselves for thier parents shortcomings.
The hardest thing for a child of any age to accept is that one of the two people they love the most is seemingly "walking out of thier lives" even if the missing parent remains involved, it is not the same.

Anywhere between 10 years old and 18 years old. My mom and biological dad(who I have not seen scence I was 18 months old after he kidnapped me and held me for ransom) divorced when I was about a year old and my mom and my sisters' biological dad divorced when I was about 3 or 4 years old and I don't remember any of it. My mom married my stepdad when I was about 4 or 5 years old and I have always called him dad and went by his last name.
