eating anything after surgery is something the surgeon determines... it depends on the surgery. Empty stomachs are a good thing when anesthesia is involved. but you should check with your doctor about eggs specifically.

I've never heard of such a thing. In fact, the opposite is usually true. Eating protein helps the body repair tissues, and egg protein is easily digested by almost everyone. I would think it would be an excellent idea to eat a couple of eggs daily for a week or so after a surgery.

Well I didn't feel like eating anything after surgery. I was woofing my cookies for about 24hrs after my first surgery. I had a bad reaction to the anesthetic. The second time I was fine. I had my friends bring me McDonald's and Burger King cause I was getting sick of the hospital food. So If you can eat that I am sure you can eat eggs.
But it really depends I guess on what you are going in for and what your doctor says you can or can not eat. If you are not sure. ALWAYS ASK YOUR DOCTOR!!!! that is the best advice.

It is true, depending on what sort of surgery you have. Have you ever heard the term EGG BOUND. I think it is that if you eat eggs, you could get egg bound, which I think is basically constipation and the last thing you want to be doing after an operation is trying to force a poop out. If you know what I mean. This may aggravate your condition.

It is true, many hospitals try to stop you eating eggs after surgery only because they make you fart and this can upset other patients on the same ward

Once you are off the liquid diet that most people get immediately after surgery, you should be able to eat anything you want...eggs included.

Nonsense. If there is a particular food you should avoid for awhile your Dr. will tell you what and for how long. There's nothing special about eggs.
