well, the way i always got rid of them at my folks was with my hunting dog and a 22 magnum rifle.
if you dont want to go that extreme, you could always try for a fake owl or some fake snakes.
but those little annoying, garden destroying, wire chewing critters are extremely smart, and can realize very quickly that these are fakes...
you could always purchase gardening book/magazine that list companys that sell products to get rid of unwanted critters.
