Okay i'm a Latino lady, and the word is that we Latino ladies are hot blooded, and okay i think it would be fair to say that any woman regardless of colour or race could be this way but it's when i hear other stereotypes of other races, or ethnicity that arent true and are harsh to the point of cutting like a knife, that i find myself having to defend friends who are of a different cultural background, and are being labeled, or stereotyped because of who they are, or because of their ethnicity. That i think is so wrong......so what other stereotypes have you heard regarding, ethnicity that you do not agree with, even if it's to do with your own ethnicity?......on the other hand do we only agree with the stereotype made against us, when it glorifies us in ways we find appealing, or that others might find appealing?......

I'm australian. I can't count the number of times people (particularly Americans) have asked me whether I have a pet kangaroo... *rolls eyes*
People like stereotypes because their fragile litte minds can't comprehend the immense diversity between each person in this world. You get used to it.

All I can say is that it's hard not to stereotype people when soooo many people act so incredibly stereotypical.
In other words, stereotypes persist because they are so frequently reinforced. When a certain group that is stereotyped stops acting that way (for good or bad), the stereotype fades away.

It may be wrong but the truth is it can be true a lot of the times. People who live in a group or race pick up the same habits or a way of being. Its not because of there color or race but the group consciousness.

Being a black male, I am a one of the few in this country who feel cursed by the stereotype of black men. (you know, the black "ghetto" image) I noticed most of the black men in the past and now tend to embrace that stereotype, mold it into their personalities, and even feel that that image is the "true" identity of what it means to be a black person. I beg to differ. I feel that that stereotypical image was created most likely from the 70's, but got warped by black exploitation movies, music, and the actions of douche-bags who commit crimes, but happen to be mostly black. I had a Asian girlfriend once a few years ago, but her old school Chinese stepmother and grandmother condemned me as a typical thug who's only after their little girl's money. All most likely, because of the actions of other black guys that they saw on TV.

Sometimes people aren't being mean with stereotypes, they are just saying what's out there and people are overly sensitive. Like work at home mom's are dumb. Just let it roll off your back and tell people they are ignorant. But I don't think it's bad to think all Australians have a kangaroo, it's like saying it's bad to think all people who live in Nebraska live on a farm.

nicely, we stay in society and between the mandatory ideas of society is conformity. you're individualistic "no-class" is already stereotypically equipped into society no matter if you wish it or no longer. Stereotypes include a particular aspect of truth, and a good number of human beings are better than prepared to bigger healthful into one, merely like you, and a useless ringer for me.

It is wrong. I think it has everything to do with the fashion of today where "less is more". A lot of skin shows if you are one who dresses with the fashion trendy.
I have noticed that a lot of Latino women dress in today's fashion, but so do a lot of white, purple, orange women. I think Latino woman are sometimes "more attractive" in this type of fashion because of your dark eyes and dark complexion. That may have something to do with that "hot" stigma.

well I'm a single black young (21) mother.. I've heard people saying that black single mothers want to lay up and have nothing but babies and receive welfare and food stamps.. which is not true there are young black women out here who are trying to make a life for themselves and their kids regardless of how many they have... it is small minded people that would stereotype another person.....
