Shove cotton up his nose holes, then shove a rag in his mouth, then when he wakes up, smack him upside the head and shout into his ear, 'Stop snoring!'

I shall relate an incident from a country from middle east. A man got married with a very beautiful young lady. She had the habit of snoring. The family of the girl hid this fact from the bridegroom's family. Few days after the marriage the husband filed a divorce suit on the basis of this snoring. The wife suggested to the judge a solution to arrive at a compromise. She suggested that she will sleep during the day when the husband is away at work and that she will not sleep or snore in the night. The judge, the husband, the families and advocates, all agreed to this solution. And then they lived happily thereafter. This story must be true because I read it as a news item in a prestigious newspaper. I forgot which newspaper. I had a paper clipping. That too I lost. That is another story. Another time.

I have a snoring husband but he has a medical problem
if your husband don't have a med problem
their is many reason why
1- because he is very tired
2- he sleeps with his mouth open if so then you can take him to a breathing theraphist to teach him how to breath
my husband had to have a sinus op in August he still snores from time to time so now I made an appt with a breathing therapist to teach him how to breath again
If none of these dillama is valide for you
try yoga, relaxation before bed
but I would advice you not used those over the counter med
you will be wasting money and since we dont' know the long term effect of these meds
I use to try to fall asleep before my husbandand hope that I don't wake up in the middle of the night
I am sorry that I was't much help

Have you considered that there might be a health related reason to his snoring? There is a serious one called sleep apnea. His labored breathing indicates he isn't getting enough oxygen and this can take its toll on his organs. Is he tired during the day despite having had adequate sleep?
Maybe it is something as simple as having his adnoids removed from his nasal passages which would free up the area and allow air to pass thru more efficiently. Have him see an ENT.

Luckily mine hubby's a shift worker, so most of time he's at work when I'm sleeping so it's not often an issue.
However, on the odd occasion we're actually home at the same time, he almost always ends up going to bed first. On these nights, I end up kicking him in the leg, or poking him in the ribs to make him roll over.
If all else fails, I steal the blanket & go sleep on the lounge. At least that way I get some sleep.

Because most snorers sleep on their back, one good way of stopping it is by making the snorer turn over. Another snoring treatment which is said to be quite effective involves rubbing aromatic herbs on the snorers chest at bedtime, and seems to work by opening the respiratory tract. Some people say drinking hot milk at bedtime helps.
and dont put a lot of high pillows under his head

Don't be so mean it's not his fault...
It's a medical problem...
My husband & his mother snore... try sleeping first...
You're trying to deal with only his snoring!
Imagine having two of them!
Right now he sleeps in a separate room... works pretty well! : )

Help him by sending him to a sleep lab for sleep study. His problem may be more serious than you think. My significant did the same thing to me and I still snore. But now she understands this. So once he is back from sleep lab you will understand this as well. Mind you it is a very expensive test and hopefully you have a good insurance to cover this expenses.

ive tried everything, and trust me i mean everything, ive spent hours at night patting his back so he doesnt snore, but then i end up not sleeping. He is super sensitive about his snoring,
he has tried everything, even breathe right.
in the end, i chose some ear plugs. but i have to be sure to get up before him as to not let him see that he snores so dang loud.
take him to the docs and get him checked out, if not, they have some great ear plugs these days.

try to lift his head by adding a extra pillow. that may help the flow of his breathing and stop the snoring or at least quiet it down some
