Exercise really is the key - not only do you burn calories, it boosts your metabolism and makes you more likely to stick to the diet.
Your doctor will be able to give you advice, and refer you to a nutritonist if nessercary.
You could consider joining a slimming club to give you a boost - it can be helpful to swap hits and tips with people in the same boat. I've personally been sucsessful with Weightwatchers, but there are many around.
Tips that have worked for me:-
Make lots of low calorie soups to fill you up
Sugar free jelly is great as a low calorie dessert
Use low fat cooking spray instead of oil
Use low fat mayo and spread
Watch your portion sizes
Always read food labels
Weigh yourself once a week and make a graph of your progress
Measure yourself once a month
Write down everything you eat
Write down your 'triggers' to work out why and when you over eat
Don't keep sugary/fatty foods in the fridge
Let everyone know you are dieting - then they won't offer you thinks
Don't let one slip up put you off - get right back on track
Drink 2-3 litres of water a day
I find that it is easier to have no sugary foods - the cravings go away after a week or so.
The bottom link is a great free website for looking up calories and fat.
Good luck!

Dieting is a ball ache. I've never had to do it, but I did once feel that I was loading the weight on. Try going to a weight training and fitness shop. They stock various pills that guarantee to make you lose weight with no side effects. However, do be careful, only go for the branded products like WEIDER. These tablets basically increase your metabolic rate which in turn burns fat. I lost 1 stone++ in 2 weeks, I did not do any exercise at all, just my normal bosses job, mainly desk ridden. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart condition etc, seek medical advise or do not take. The guys in these shops are usually athletes and can give advice but please make sure with your Doctor. I now have a six pack back and personally I would recommend this course if you are able to take them.,Costs would be around £40 for 100 tablets which are usually taken AM and PM. Good luck

I lost a couple of stone a while back. I have put most of it back on but that is my fault for not sticking to the regime, and I do plan to do it again as it worked. Basically it was jogging that did it. You burn something like 400 cals an hour with vigorous exercise, so if you're doing that every day, plus generally being sensible and not eating high-cal foods like chocolate and fatty food, I worked out I could pretty much eat what I wanted.
At the time, I was also drinking 6 pints of water a day and that seemed to help.
One tip is to do exercise with someone else. Left to my own devices I don't bother doing anything so I arranged to go jogging or to the gym with friends. If you can afford it, try a personal trainer - they're about £20-30 an hour but will get you into a regime that hopefully you can stick to.

U should use some of the other methods suggested here.

I lost about 3 stone in a few months...Stuck to 3 decent meals a day and cut out the crap...got a dog and that was my excuse to walk 3 miles a day. The weight fell off me in no time!!

Dont weigh urself as sometimes this can dissapoint u...instead every couple of weeks try on an older pair of trousers that u r just too big for (we all have them) gradually u will feel them getting looser which keeps u motivated and makes u want to lose that little bit extra.

Also...if u do still crave the odd bag of crisps try to stick to things like skips or quavers and for a chocolate treat milky way's r the best 2 eat.

GOOD LUCK!!!

The answer is simple. Go to your doctor and ask for a diet sheet and health check. Then enroll in a gym . Ensure that the calories you consume, are less than the calories you use up. Don't "go on a diet" because once you lose the weight and go back to your normal crap diet and lazy ways, you will put it all on again. You have to change the way you eat and make sure you cook a proper meal every day. Lean meat or fish, lots of veggies (frozen is ok) and potatoes or rice. If you want a dessert choose low fat yogurt etc. Make sure you have at least 3 meals a day. Have breakfast of either a good cereal like shredded wheat or similar with no sugar added to it, skimmed milk, with perhaps chopped fruit on it. Or whole grain toast with a smear of spread and perhaps some honey, for mid morning snack have a low fat cereal bar and for lunch make yourself a tasty salad bowl with fish or chicken. Try raw mushrooms, raw caulflower, raw brocolli in the salad and use plain yogurt as a dressing. If you cannot afford a gym, then there are things you can do for free such as running up and down stairs 5 times a day, power walking, cycling. Fill yourself up on nutritious low fat foods and avoid ready meals. Write a diet diary and put down every single thing which passes your lips including drinks. If you drink alcohol, stop because alcohol is full of calories.
There is no need to stop treats occasionally. A single biscuit won't do any harm, but sitting down in front of the telly and eating a whole packet will.

Hi, you need to not think about being on a diet, as you will only think about food more!
Have healthy meals, lots of fruit and vegetables. Make sure you eat breakfast, as this is important in waking up your metabolism ready for the day.
Drink lots of water, and limit the amount of tea and coffee that you drink. Cut down on sugary food and drinks.
Exercise is very important. Even if you only do 10 minutes each day to start with until you have more energy, and then build it up gradually.
You could try to join weight watchers or slimming world or another type of weight loss club, and then you will meet other people that are trying to lose weight like you.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your weight loss. x

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/qpOVM

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.
