Vanishing without a Trace does NOT mean that the people who knew the person will suddenly loose all memory of the person. It just means that the person does not leave any clues to their present whereabouts.
Your question my friend is therefore fundamentally flawed ;-)

"MIssing temporarily". If after all consertive effort to search and locate produce no result, there is a certain time limitation that the subject can be declared as dead or missing. Regulation varies from State to State.
