You must choose from the available known options. You cannot have a prime minister of the country that nobody has ever heard of before, as it would be unconstitutional.

Gordon Brown for PM, John Reid as a real deputy PM (what was Prescott EVER doing there?) and as Chancellor maybe Allister Darling. Might as well be another Scot who can understand the accents.

Gordon Brown is easily deserving of it having successfully run the economy for a decade which is without precedent. Also, although he's hardly a lefty he still has come from the labour tradition and I would still suggest cares about social justice unlike the aberration that was Blair. The problem is that any opposing views to Blair/Brown's reformist platform have long been snuffed out, there's no room for dissent or even debate in New Labour. Would have been interesting if Robin Cook was still alive, God rest him. So what you're left with is a bunch of yes men and, in the case of John Reid, a potential megalomaniac whose outbursts are worse than anything Norman Tebbit came out with.

I'm not really a huge Brown fan but as a Scotsman I do feel for him for all the attacks on his nationality that are going to come his way from the English Tory press when he becomes PM.

My 3 year old daughter. I dont think labour should ever run this country again. Unless of cause my daughter was in power. She would do a much better job than all of them put together. Labour has run this country into the gutter. Dont you see that. Just look at the N.H.S The schools. the housing. the country.the better you try to do for your self in this country at the moment. The goverment will take it away from you. And it does not mater what arsxxxxe Takes over with labour in goverment. It's not going to get anybetter. If you want to vote for them in the next term. So be it.

John Reid. He has personality and is a straight talker. He can be tough and I do not think he would be frightened of making policies which are unpopular if he thought they would be for the benefit of the country. I think however that Brown will get the leadership. Still not a bad choice. Either of them should be able to put the tories in their place once again.

Charles Clarke would have been great but his comments about Brown have shot him in the foot i think !!
Brown Obviously lied in his speach yesterday although i think he may have some good in him, is probaly the best of a bad sellection for leader. Jack straw is two faced and these others are just a joke. Shame Robin Cook still isnt alive *;) He would have been the most honest candidate.
I only wish Charles Kennedy would be more forcfull in his aproach he could be a great great leader for this country and do us a lot of good !!!
So unfortunatley my answer to your question is Gordon Brown ...

Gordon Brown. The only worry I have is who would take over as Chancellor?

There are a few others that could probably do the job well, but because of their age are unlikely to get voted in - Jack Straw for example.

Gordon Brown with Harriet Harman as his Deputy. John Reid as Foreign Secretary. David Milliband as Chancellor as obviously fiscal and economic policies would be overseen by Gordon Brown. I certainly wouldn't let any of those who resigned i.e. Charles Clarke back into cabinet again as they have shown since leaving how bitter and twisted they really are.

i think that blair should stay its appauling that everyone is on the band wagon about getting rid of him look at what he has done for the country so much since the conservatives have been gone, every one is saying that blair made a mistake going to war but everyone is forgetting the fact that we went to war for 9/11 and the fact that the threat is at our door, as one man said "if were not there they would be here instead"

I think John Major will do bcoz the conservatives have been great in their home policy unlike the blairs' ruthless foreign policy. His combination with the bushes is the worst ever in the 21st century.
