And when you were a teenager?

And later?

And now?

Which ones you miss the most and would like to see back? Or do you think their place in in your past?

Which countries produce the best series and TV shows, in your opinion, and which are some examples of the best shows, from these countries?

Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day! :)

Wow, lots of questions within your question, Moon... Here goes nothing! :)

As a child I watched proper kiddie shows like Captain Kangaroo and Sesame Street but I also enjoyed some of the popular series of the day, like Get Smart, The Wild, Wild West and Columbo. We also used to get to see reruns of some excellent imported British TV programs like The Avengers and The Prisoner. Great stuff!

As a teenager I embraced some really outstanding comedy shows that helped shape my sense of humour to this day. Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, SCTV, SNL and Late Night with David Letterman (the original NBC show) come immediately to mind. In terms of dramas, The Rockford Files and more British imports on PBS programs like Mystery! and Masterpiece Theatre stand out.

Later on came both new and old (via cable reruns) classics like The Young Ones, MST3K, The Kids in the Hall, Seinfeld and The Dick Van Dyke Show on the comedy side of the ledger and Inspector Morse, Lovejoy, Doctor Who, The Saint and Route 66 on the drama side. Individual education, science and nature series like The Story of English, The Living Planet and The Day the Universe Changed warrant special mention here as well.

Nowadays I watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report and The Office, in addition to loads of films and sports programs (principally hockey and football). TV may be a bit of a cultural wasteland but discerning viewers can find quality if they look hard enough.

As for which shows I miss most and would like to see back on TV again, MST3K really stands out, as I really loved that show and never tired of the premise. Most of the others on my list are either too dated or their casts too old or even deceased. So yes, Moon, most have been relegated to my past and serve as reminders of happy memories. :)

As for the nation(s) of origin producing the best TV series, even a quick perusal of my list will reveal that I find the British programs to be of consistently outstanding quality. I needn't provide examples here as I already have up there ^ if you'll have another look. ;)

Thank you for the lovely question(s), my dear friend. Have a wonderful day and please feel better soon. :)

as a child i really liked 'bill and Ben ' the flower pot men .

Dr who was the best ( not meaning to give age away but William hatrnell was the doctor ) when i was a teenager .

i didn't watch much telly , i was busy moving country and chasing the girls !!! at a later time of life .

now i watch even less TV -- it doesn't do nothing for , bar the odd special or sporting event .

gladly and fortunately Dr who has made a big and in my opinion , a really good comeback ( you really have to compliment the writers of the show ).

Australia had the best , well made , show ever produced (albeit with sleight of hand ) good old Skippy the bush kangaroo !!! --- sucked most of the world in -- but she'll be right mate !

Lordy! Lordy!

Ok - in order:

As a child -

Captain Kangaroo, Electric Company, Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Hardy Boys.

As a teenager -

The Jeffersons, Different Strokes, Facts of Life, Bosom Buddies, Chips, Dukes of Hazzard, (Yea, I admit that last one.)

Later -

Bevery Hills 90210, Growing Pains, can't really think of anything else.

Now -

Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Six Feet Under (It's a little old, but I still love it) Six Degrees, Medium.

I miss Sex and the City. There's re - runs, but it's not the same.

Argentina has some great tv shows, Latin America in general...lots of singing and dancing and silly telenovas.

Italy is good for that, too.

"The smurfs" when I was a kid. I don't think I would enjoy it now as much as I did then but my kids probably would and I would enjoy sharing it with them.
