Heidi Munan is the Malaysian Swiss born author and journalist who write about Dayak cultural and ethnics in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Heidi was awarded her BA in 1966.

Heidi worked to support herself while she studied, and her most vivid memories are of the kindness of Dr Pearson, one of her professors; and of studying in the library, where, she says, she would have liked to have spent "25 hours a day"!

After graduation, Heidi married and moved to Sarawak, Malaysia. She taught form 6 students for 7 years before deciding on a career in journalism, where she feels her strengths and passion really lie.

Heidi began researching the material culture of Borneo, and then began transferring her knowledge into books on the topic. She is now a self-employed writer.

When Heidi isn't researching or exploring the mountains and rivers of Borneo, she likes to read, and garden to relax. Two of her brothers are also University of Auckland alumni.
