I had cancer when I was 9 and had to have my left leg amputated above the knee. I have lived for 26 yrs on crutches. I can do anything,ride a bike, roller skate, carry groceries, and laundry, but people still want to hlep me. Sometimes I guess it makes things easier for me to accept help. Everytime I allow someone to help me I am swallowing my pride. It used tobe VERY hard for me to do but as I get older I seem to have softened. At least I don't roll my eyes and sigh when they almost knock me down to open a door for me. I say "Thanks" like I actually appriciate the help.

Yes, I have and it is damnably hard on my digestive, respiratory and nervous systems. There is nothing worse than you swallowing your pride for some worthless waste of good genetic material who does not appreciate it, though. That affects the whole body :)

Hmmm....have you been reading my notes? I could have sworn I was gonna ask something like this today. No matter, great minds and all that ;) I have had to swallow my pride, several times, but for the most part, I have learned from it.
Swallowing gum is just plain yucky!

Swallowing your pride briefly cuts off your oxygen supply until you feel light-headed, tastes like a peanut butter and tomato milkshake and leaves a furball stuck in your throat. Then you get diarrhoea for 3 days.

Oh my gosh - every single day!! I'm in this relationship w/ this super-sensitive guy who (it seems) really likes to argue. Even when I know I'm not wrong, I'll apologize just to make freakin' peace. Swallow, swallow, swallow. My 13 yr old daughter is disgusted with this habit of mine.

Yep I swallow. I think the whole pride thing hurts worse than swallowing it.

Its hard at first...but like everything else in life, you get used to it, and it gets easier and easier each time you do it !
If its still not going down well, then add some spice to it (laughter is the spice of life, and the best medicine)

I quite a lot choked yet Eleanor gave me the Heimlich ..... I had to ask my Uncle Walter to position in an bill to PEZ to get an incredible provide of the Hulk, Iron guy & Bat guy Pez's in the previous Christmas. even as he makes use of his formal call 'Wal Mart' ..... he truly receives businesses transferring!!!!!!
