Karaoke is singing to recorded background music that does not contain the lead singer's voice. Whether or not there are onscreen lyrics does not matter. While I have no idea what you are referring to as "their own song", if they are doing the above it is considered karaoke.

Youu mean with the words and music on the screen? If yes, then it is Karaoke, but if the singer is just singing, this is called a sing-a-long

Good question... I would have to say no though...
Evidence:
If you go to a Rolling Stones gig... Mick Jagger has to use a teleprompter to remember the words to his songs... this is definitely a performance and not karaoke.

No, I believe it would be considered a candid live performance. Unless they sung in badly, in which you'd always par it off as karaoke.

No - but it is highly pretentious.
The whole fun of karaoke (if there is any) is listening to people murder well known songs.

If they are actually singing it is. If they are mouthing it, it's lip synch.
