Took urine drug test yesterday, and not sure doctor believed me when I told him I had been taking the original hydrocodone prescription recently rather than his "upped" script for oxycodone. (The oxy stuff was making me sick). Will the drug screen support my claim, or will the doc just know that I am taking pills for pain?

The test is more than likely going to test positive for opiates. These drugs will show up as the same drug class. Labs are able to break it down to specifics, such as codiene, morphine, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone. Sometimes the reason for testing is to reveal that you are indeed positve and should be. A person that is not positive might indicate that they are selling the prescription on the side. A doctor should not be upset that you are not taking his prescription if there are adverse effects and you should probably explain this to him or her so that an alternate medicine or dosage can be suggested. Hope this helps:)

NO i dont know of any hospital that does drug extractions to determine the specific drug. Hospitals use instruments that only detect the groups that the drugs belong. Since oxycodone and hydrocodone are opiates. the results would just give the units of opiates in the sample

This is a good question. But you should ask it in the chemistry section. They should know how the test work and what sets them off. Also If you ask me, I don't think so. But that's pretty vague cuz it could go either way. I am from the US in Oregon, and we only test for Opiates, Meth, Pot, and some times cocaine. Hope this helps.

Don't think doc will have you take test to see what you are taking, must be for something else. Codeine is main ingredient in both scripts, shows up the same on normal test.

It depends on what level of testing they do. If they do a simple UA it will simply show what you have been doing like pain meds, pot etc. If they do the level 2 testing it will show exactly what you have taken and how much. If the script was in your name, don't worry about it.
