I have experienced this situation myself a couple of times. When, for example, I asked a trivial question casually, I received a very good response. And then encouraged by this good response, I settled down and decided to ask a serious thought provoking question that I thought would certainly attract an even better response, and would also benefit common human thought. But this did not happen - I do not understand this?
This, I think is, somehow, to do with intuitive part of our mind; that at times when we are natural, we are tuned into a kind of a collective mind to rouse interest of other people at a deeper level wherever they might be. When perhaps we like to bring our mind into the grasp of rationality we lose touch with its inuitive parts, and we then approach only people only at the rational or intellectual levee.
I anything can be serious thing, like if I ask – what is a chair? The answer to this simple seemingly trivial question can e highly philosophical and metaphysically imaginative; or it can be very realistically informative; or it can be a simple humour one. But why people do not see that all the times. This is a mystery. Why do we sometimes fail when we see reason for what so ever? This to me is sort of contemplation. We might improve.

That's Easy.
A question about a sandwich is really broad and very easy to answer because a sandwich is avery common thing and people like answering stupid questions because they are obviously easy to answer. In this kinds of questions you could also just guess.
But answer a question about Lost?
People would not be interested because it sounds confidential and it is an abstract thing.
They might just think that it is boring and quite hard to answer.
Some stupid questions might be like:
-Do I look cute?
-What is your skin color?
-Have you seen a glass plate?
Questions People Won't Be Likely to Answer:
-about science or something that needs correct and straightforward guesses and a question where GUESSES are not allowed.

That would reflect the kind of people that they are. Serious questions often don't receive serious answers or they receive no answers at all. People are afraid to answer the intellectual way.
Stupid questions get answers from people of the same kind. Sometmes people need to do stupid things for the sake of fun. Anyway, we don't get much fun from serious matters right?

Maybe because its easy to answer stupid questions. everybody has a stupid answer. But if you ask a question that nobody understands or relates to then all you get is either a question about your question , BS or nothing.

Lost is a fictitious TV action drama but a sandwich is real, people like talking about real things, like food, sex and the slow international response to the continuing humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

I don't watch the program, sorry. Besides that, there are many questions about LOST in the TV section. Which question ppl choose to answer is up to them.
