It is a fact that most people change their minds about the death penalty when it is one of their own that has been tortured and murdered or mutilated and raped. It is common that most people can have very strong views when they are looking across the table at a situation and not involved personally. When it happens to them, all of a sudden it is a different thing and they suddenly have different views.
Hey, I am a victim of violent crime. I know how it feels to go through a system that doesn't care much for you. The system is a bit better today - but still not 100%.
As for the death penalty - I believe in it 100%. I think it is 100% a cure for violent crime. Hey, that person will never do THAT again!
As a society, we treat the criminals better than our own. Take them out back and a .32 bullet will do the trick and then give their organs away to those who are in need. What is with all the fanfare? Did their victim get a last meal and a chaplin prior to their brutal death? I don't think so.
But we live in a world where someone can break into your house to kill or rape you, stub their toe while smashing through the door and sue YOU for all you are worth because THEY got hurt while trying to kill YOU. We aren't even going to get into if you act in self defense in your own home and actually shoot them! It is insane the way the laws are these days! INSANE!
I am talking about the Ted Bundy's and those types in the world that are proven 100% to be the ones who did the deed.
Just my opinion. Heck, you asked!

I don't believe in the death penalty. Studies have shown that it does not have a retaliation effect more than a life sentence or a long sentence in jail. If you're going to do something so bad that you migh spend the rest of your life in jail, you are not going to change your mind because you might get the death penalty. I think it is a really weird and archaic system when you have the government killing people. In my opinion, it actually justifies or condones revenge in the worst possible manner.

Opposed. I have no problem putting an unreformable, unrepentent murderer to death. But we have had a great many people on death row who get exonerated years later. Often weeks or days from death. it is statistically inconceivable that so many have gotten close and been innocent and none of the innocent have been killed. Life in prison can be partially corrected when errors are found. Death cannot. 2nd I am a libertarian. I don't want to trust the government with the power to manipulate the economy. I am certainly not going to trust it with my life and death.

Punishments dont work anymore! The goverment are WAY too soft on criminals!! Rapists, murderers, child abusers, anything serious like that should definately get the death penelty!! Criminals go to prison, get 25 years, serve 12, get out and do it again! Im sure death would make people think twice!!

i don't believe in killing a murderer/rapist. i'm just not that kind of person. i do however think that the death penalty is a fair thing to do. when people go to prison, our taxes are being used for them to be clothed, fed, warm, etc. murderers and rapists and theives know what they're getting themselves into when they commit a crime. there's no excuse, they brought it on themselves!

I believe in the death penalty for the harshest of criminals, like murderers, pedophiles, and rapists.

i would think the death penalty would be cheaper we don't have to pay to keep the criminal behind bars, keep him warm, give him tv, and feed him three times a day. there are a lot of innocent people in the world who don't live that well.

That's a loaded question. If someone did something to a loved one of mine, they probably wouldn't make it to the courtroom. I believe that murderers, rapists, etc. do DESERVE to die, however, I don't necessarily think that it is our decision to make.

I don't be live in killing someone for a crime of any degree. God punishes people for what they do. Two wrongs don't make a right.
