My friends mom wants her to go to the doctor 2 see if she has been having sex. I know she only did it 3 times. The latest being last weekend. Next Friday, her mom wants her to go to the doctor. Can he determine if she has had sex?

How can they tell?

Sort of--- I see a lot of people have answered 'yes'.
The hymen can be broken through non-sexual means----a fall, regular strenous exercise, and some girl's hymens don't go all the way across. So just looking for the presence of a hymen is not really very accurate, and to be honest, very 'medieval'.
The other thing to consider is the doctor patient confidentiality issue. If your friend asks the doctor to keep the exam private, he/she must do so as a legal requirement (if we are talking about a Western Culture country, not some Islamic-type state).

Wow, your friends mom sounds psychotic. That's just wrong. If your friend is worried about the doctor telling her mom and her mom turning exorcist on her, she can just tell the doctor that she uses a dildo/vibrator. The doctor won't be able to tell the difference. If she hasn't had sex recently, the doctor won't even be able to tell except that her hymen is broke and that doesn't really mean anything especially if she goes with the vibrator story. Hopefully, the mom isn't in the room at this time and the doctor can just tell the crazy woman that her daughters a virgin. If she is in the room and goes nuts, your friend can make up a story about how she threw out the vibrator after realising the evils of masturbation or some other BS that her insane mother will believe. Good luck.

Once again, yes. There is a layer of skin called hymen which all virgin females have. When a girl has sex the first time the hymen is broken which is why the first time hurts. A doctor can easily do an exam and see if the hymen is there or not. If it's not there then they can tell she is not a virgin.

Yes, doc can tell. but lots of ways to break hymen. Masterbating with an object is one. As for his being able to tell mom... depends on if daughter signed form giving parents permission to know her information during her initial visit. I signed my daughter up for giving me permission. But all I wanted to know, was that if the 'lump' was the real reason she wanted to see the GYN. The doc asked me if I had permission and when I said yes, she checked and then told me JUST that, "yes, the lump is the reason she came to see me." As for the mom, she sounds as bad as MY mom! Mine wanted to help demonstrate ON ME how to use a tampon.. I told her to get AWAY from me! I'd have the daughter give the doc a heads up about what will happen and that THAT is not something that falls under 'giving parent permission'! And have the doc teach mom what the limit is! And tell the doc that she rescinds the permission if it was given.

The answer to your question, as others have answered is YES, they can tell ...
The bigger concern here is NOT that the mother is taking her , but that this person is being safe.
Cmon people, this girls mother is concerned ! With everything out there , id be worried too. Congrats to mom for loving her daughter enough to WANT to take her for a check up !!
Hope it all works out ... and tell your friend to play it safe , ok ?

Heck yea. It only takes once. I think this may fall under an invasion of privacy. I would suggest she talk to someone at the school about it, like a counsler. She's a daughter, not a slave. Mothe rsounds like a real "B"

Yes,but the answer may fall with in the dr.patient confidentiallity. But if a minor the dr may be obliged to tell her mom,I think she should speak to the dr. And level with her mom.

Yes he can, and can tell if she's had sex recently. However if the girl is over a certian age, he is legally bound by patient's priviacy laws to not release any information to anyone about her... not even to her mother.
