multiply inside the () by 3 to get 6x-3y=? (assuming we are solving for x) add 3y to each side to get 6x=3y, and then divide each side by 6 to get x=3/6 y, and simplify

x =1/2 y

first of, you need a value in place of the '?'...BUT, if you are just expanding... (BTW, im assuming that the x is to the power of 2)

3(x^2-y)
3x^2 - 3y

and thats it

but if 0 is in place of 'y'

3(x^2-y) = 0
3x^2 - 3y = 0
3x^2 = 3y
x^2 = y
x = the square root of y
