No not at all, its a fairy tale...its just a story used to explain where humans might have come from...because the people who wrote it had no concept of science.

I am reminded of a radio interview that a famous British zoologist gave recently. During the interview he told of what happened one day while giving a lecture on evolution to some students in Oxford university. He noticed that one young guy seemed to be particularly interested in his talk. After the lecture the student in question walked up to the professor, shook his hand then (in an American accent )said "Sir the blinkers have fallen off my eyes today! " . He had come over to UK to study zoology from one of the Southern states of the USA.. He then proceeded to tell the prof. that where he came from nobody talked about "such things" and "how he had been kept in the dark all these years, he realised that "The whole adam and eve thing was a bunch of baloney" . The professor thanked him then said words to the effect "How can a country that put a man on the moon 35 years ago still rely on Bronze age scribblings as truth!"

Yes I do, but I also think there is a possibility that there was more than one Adam and more than one Eve. If there weren't then there is no way to explain all the destinct physical differences between some nationalities. Skin pigmentation can be explained by location and adapation, language can be explained by the tower of babel, but physical appearance differences had to come from somewhere, or everyone would look fairly the same and just speak differently.

Taranto, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

It is an allegory.
It is a story (very good one) to teach us about God creating everything, and it is NOT incompatible with evolution, because somewhere in our homo erectus / cro-magnum path, we realize ourselves as different from other animals.

Conscienceness is our delivery and perdition, depending on how we use it. This, I believe, is the real "forbidden fruit".

All cosmogonies from all civilizations tell about a being or energy creating everything; what about electricity, magnetism, natural selection? Couldn´t they be manifestations of this being or energy?

It´s not on magic tricks the Bible wants us to believe; the Bible and all religions want us to see how wonderful and miraculous life is, the way it is. Science just explains how life happens.

Adam and Eve could be the first generation of self-conscient hominides, and that doesn't invalidate the beauty and the function of the story.

So how come Adam gets to be capitalized and not Eve. lol. No I dont think they are real. I think its a bunch of rubbish. Its improbable to think that all human life formed from only 2 beings. After they had imbred for several generations the possibilty for mating would be gone as both would be too deformed to do so. Its simple science.

I very much believe in the beginning that God made Adam then Eve, if you read your Bible it will tell you so. God made all things and on the 7th day he rested.

No, the story of Adam and Eve is not even halfway logical.

I really do not know. SInce I am a Christian, I guess YES. But the science part of the story about the Big Bang is pretty reasonable too.

i am not sure. but it is surely not a fairy tale
humans did not evolve from monkeys(if that
was true we would have by now evolved into someting
else so it has to be from adam and eve that
human history started

one of the fundamental problems with faith is that some time it requires you to believe in things that seem kinda far fetched. i guess that's what faith is the ability to believe in the impossible...
Personally i don't believe in the story of adam and eve, although it is a good if somewhat sexist story.
