Mistrial? Do you think this is an American criminal court?

Unfortunately there ain't gonna be any verdit other than guilty. The trial is a waste of time and an embarrassment to the Iraqi people. I honestly don't see any purpose for it other than stressing the former leader out lots before he's killed.

The trial isn't like normal american courts, Saddam isn't even allowed to choose who defends him in court. That's why he speaks out so much, because he's frustrated at the system being such a sham and his trial being an obvious setup.

For instance, on the 19th one judge was replaced at the new Iraqi prime minister's request because the judge had referred to Saddam as "not a dictator". Apparently that undermined the justice's neutrality.

Then in the article you posted, one judge had Saddam's defence lawyers replaced with more government pleasing ones.

And then there are all the people who have died while trying to get to the court to be part of Saddam's defence. I'm talking lawyers, witnesses, former military leaders, etc. The court offers no protection to anyone involved in his defence, and they are literally killed for wanting to take part.

There's a really really long list of reasons why this trial is a violation of the very word "justice" but it's not going to change a thing because the nation is still suffering foreign occupation and attack.

If the trial finds any evidence to suggest that he is not guilty and he is released, then the US bombings and attacks are just gonna start up again. The nation is effectively killing their leader to save their own people from further destruction at the hands of invading armies.

Is the trial being made to look unjust for that reason? I mean, you'd think in a nation that's been recently "liberated" that there would be some kind of justice system that actually promotes justice. But alas, it really is just as bad as it looks.

These are sad days in the eyes of democracy.
Sad sad days.

Saddam and Osama are merely pawns used by the U.S. to cover up what's REALLY going on with Iraq!...
