Why do I feel so depressed just before I am due on my period? I am on the pill, not sure if that has anything to do with it. The slightest thing makes me cry and I loose intresest in everything, feel miserable constantly, I even feel suicidal sometimes and feel life is not worth living. I hate feeling this way.

please dont think you are alone on this one. its called PMT and you can get it just before your "dragon days" and after it too. There are some pills that you can take, vitamins i think, they are called Wellwoman, or there are a few different types of ones about, primrose stuff, i dunno the names, but if you go into superdrug or boots and tell one of the ladies that its for yoru time of the month and you want it to help with your mood swings or say PMT, and they will know what you are talkign about. you take one tablet a day for a month and it takes a month for it to work, but then when you come on again, you wont feel like everything and anything is against you. TRUST me, i have just gone through mine, im ok at the moment,. but i cry and get REALLY mad at everything, i have arguments with people, or somedays, i just wanna get wasted outta my skul and do nothing all day.

When you feel like that, go into your bathroom, sit down and just let the tears come down and tell yourself, i know its because i am on, but i dont care, i still feel sh!t anyway, but i know its gona pass within a few days, just hold in there, blah blah blah, jsut talk to yourself and calm yourself down, av hot baths, eat loads of veg and fruit, it helps your moods. I know its horrible, but at least its not for the whole 31 days.!! **)

As you get older, im told, it gets easier. (hopefully hay) gudluck and takecare.

We all feel that way before our period is due, its just that some gals react better than others. Stick a note up every day to make you smile. Just remember that everything is workable doable, and you will do it when you are ready not everyone else. Re the other stuff I used to get paranoid big time, I am on no medication pill or otherwise. But I do go for Evening Primrose capsules max dose for a few days before the start of my period and that really does help me. Life is for living viva life, sod everything else, life wont stop just because i am having a few off days!

It's your hormones. It could be because of the pill so, talk to your doctor. I get the same way when I'm not on the pill and being on the pill makes it last fewer days. While it's normal for some women to feel down, depression during this time is not normal and definitely not something you just have to put up with as part of 'being a woman'. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. You might have to change brands of pills. Also, exercise and a proper diet and sleep really help with depression.

I'm the same exact way and I'm not on any type of pill. I think it's the increase of hormones that your body gets when you get ready to start your period. I also get very irritable and snap at the sound of a pin drop... and then my mood changes fast to wanting to cry, etc. I've asked around about it and was told that it's completely normal for women to experience these sort of moods while PMSing. I don't think you have anything to worry about... but if you do feel suicide maybe contact your local suicide helpline to talk about it. Also, a way I found to feel better about these dramatic emotions is to find something that helps distract your mind from thinking such awful things. Take up a hobby or spend extra time with close friends and family members. It actually works. Good luck.

I would talk to your doctor. Suicidal is not a part of post menstrual aggravation. A females hormones change right before you start ur period. Ask your doctor he can change ur dose or even your method os birth control. I know my birth control I was on before made me sick every morning {like I was pregnant} and also made me feel depressed and I didn't want to do anything. Talk to your doctor, and if that doesn't cure ur depression I would see a physc about it b/c depression is not a good thing. Good Luck Sweetie!

I think your hormone levels are up imbalanced and the pill might not be helping. It might be worth getting yourself checked out and if there is a problem it may be worth taking supplements to ease the imbalance. Herbs like Agnus castus, thistle milk etc are supposed to help hormone inbalance as are taking regular B vitamins, primrose oil etc

DO TELL YOUR DR. HE CAN change your pills. SOME depression is normal around the period. BUT Sucide is not the norm. YOU need to talk things out with some one like a paster, teacher, parent, neighbor you trust, counselor.

I'm a bloke, and as such probably not that well positioned to help you here!

But I'd suggest contacting a health professional to discuss the medication you are taking.

If you are struggling to find an outlet or someone to talk to when you are feeling low, I have found these forums to be a good support resource:

Hope you get it sorted out anyway.

If your feeling suicidal you should see a dr....depression is not something that you can sort out on your own. its might just be the pill your on or a diet thing....better safe than sorry
