It's a combination of...
a) Islamic texts condone martyrdom (but then the Bible also condones lots of very bad things) - so basically, religion...
b) The American government (not the people) keep invading their countries / messing with their politics
Also it's not everyone - it's the same as if I said Americans are ignorant to the outside world - there's some truth in it but it's only a generalisation so it doesn't cover everyone...

The vast majority of middle eastern people I have met are very nice. Once in a while I meet someone from the middle east who is objectionable, just like I do in Ohio. I think the media is focusing on the angriest voices they can find. This morning, I heard an interview with the Aga Khan on public radio and thought to my self, I wish they would interview more people like him.

They are not haters at all, but the world is unfair to them by calling them terrorists all the time and insulting their religion, it is only natural to react in that manner
