on behalf of myself is illogical because a person acting on somebody’s behalf is acting for another( Consult Encarta). However, even great speakers would usually utter that on behalf of my wife and myself, i would like to announce---------. Any explanation?

On My Own Behalf

Well, it's on his wife's behalf as well, so that's why he would say that. He would hardly say "On my wife's behalf and for my part, I would like to thank" etc. And you can grammatically say "Speaking on my own behalf I would like to say......"
In Australia I find it annoying that people are always saying "on his behalf" when they mean "On his part" As in "It was a good try, on his part" (They say on his "behalf", as though someone else was doing it)

If you say 'on behalf of my wife and myself' you're saying it on behalf of the two of you as a unit - so it's putting across a united front, showing that you're both on the same page...
So I guess in that context it does make sense...

What should we say "On behalf of my wife she would like to thank you and i would like to thank you." When you say on behalf of my wife and myself you are telling who ever that you and your wife feel the same way. In a logical and grammar correct way.
