You should alway use that to remove the disk from your computer..If you dont, the disk will become unusable and you wont be able to reformat or even use it at all.
Even if you plug it in, it wont be recognized and it will just be there...

Yes.
You might be able to get away with it for a little while. But just pulling it out will eventually kill the flashdrive. Not just wipe all files but render the drive useless without anyway to repair or recover it. This is has happened to a friend of mine with your exact same drive.
Always use the Safely Remove Hardware option. If for some reason that doesn't seem available (eg after an explorer crash), remove the hardware from My Computer -> Right Click on your Drive.
If you get an error saying that the Safely Remove Function will not work, check to make sure that nothing is actively using the flash drive (eg copying files or reading files in a program), and try again.
The only time it's safe to do otherwise is if your computer has shut down completely.

The reason you must choose the safely remove hardware option, is because most of the flash drives are formatted FAT32 or FAT. This filesystem will become corrupt if a file or directory is being written to when you remove it. The common symptom is plugging in the drive and windows wanting to format, or all of your files just disappearing.

From my experience I can say that its "always safer" to choose the safely removew hardware option before manually removing the flash drive. Infact this rule applys to all kinds of usb based devices like iPods, Card readers, Cameras etc...

Usually you can, but sometimes it might cause problems.
If you really want to do that then go to My Computer and right click on you drive, and select properties.
Go to the hardware tab and select your drive again and click on properties.
Go to the policies tab and select the "Optimize for Quick Removal" and apply.
Now you can remove it as soon as you've finished copying.
Just make sure the light on the drive(if there is one) is off and not blinking.

It's always safer to. But if you know for sure that there isn't any data being written to or from it, (eg nothing open on the screen, like a copying or saving window etc) then its usually pretty safe to.

You can just pull it out, but you do run a slight risk of corrupting the file if it happens to be in use when you pull the drive.
