Hi there,I need to connect my laptop,but because its old,I need to buy a card what enables my laptop to catch a signal from our wireless internet-netgear.I just dont know which one I should buy.Thanks,B

If it runs on Windows XP, and has a free USB port, I think any wireless interface dongles will work. Just plug it into the USB port and off you go.

Phone Maplin and ask them. You will probably have to use an adaptor that either plugs in your PCMCIA port or in your USB port. I have one that plugs in my USB on my desktop - but have never tested the range of it. My laptop has built in wireless. Remember too that the signal is usually encrypted and you have a key for that. XP has a wizard you can run for setting up a network connection. It may ask you to use a USB memory stick to transfer the key. You can get those from Maplin too.

on the side of ur laptop u shud have a slot for a laptop wireless card there is many types u can get but the best wud be the match to ur router depends where u live geeks.com is good & cheap if u live in the states

If you've already got a net gear wireless connection I recomend you to get a Netgear card as well, that is the one I have and it works perfectly.

all u choose is a USB outlet for usb wirless community adoptor in ur laptop or PCMCIA on the spot adoptor card, you will get em from any laptop save or laptop-international, currys etc from approximately £20max
