The first sign of pregnancy for most women is the absence of menstruation following conception. Some women, especially those who have been pregnant before, find their breasts and abdomens have a heavy feeling and their nipples are unusually sensitive. But, for the majority of women, missing a period is the first sign.
When this happens, it is advisable to do a pregnancy test, either at home with a pregnancy kit from the pharmacy or through a family doctor or gynecologist. During the first three months of pregnancy, the first trimester, many women will often feel nauseous, especially in the morning hours, hence the term "morning-sickness." Other possible symptoms during the first trimester might be increased fatigue and a tendency to sleep more.
I hope this answer indeed helps you out.

The early signs of pregnancy include:
A missed period, or a rather scanty one.
A missed period is usually one of the first indicators of pregnancy for women. However, some women experience spotting or a light menstrual-like flow, when implantation occurs (about 10 days after conception). The bleeding that occurs when the developing embryo becomes implanted into the uterine wall is lighter and shorter in duration than is menstrual bleeding.
Breast Changes (Heaviness and tenderness)
Many women feel an overall tenderness and heaviness of the breasts. The areola (nipple area) becomes more sensitive, sometimes painfully sensitive, and darkens. The breasts become more full and the veins often become more apparent. These changes begin as early as one week after conception.
Nausea and sickness, or changing tastes
Most pregnant women become sensitive to certain smell and experience nausea, vomiting etc. Some develop an aversion to certain things liked before. The intensity with which women experience morning sickness varies tremendously. This feeling may persist through the first trimester or longer.
Increased frequency of urination
Most women feel like emptying bladder more frequently than usual.
Fatigue
Fatigue and shortness of breath are common early in pregnancy. You may feel exhausted at the day's end, even when you haven't done anything out of the ordinary.

Early Signs of Pregnancy
Pregnancy symptoms differ from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy, however one of the most significant pregnancy symptoms is a delayed or missed menstrual cycle. Understanding pregnancy symptoms is important because each symptom may be related to something other than pregnancy. Some women experience pregnancy symptoms within a week of conception. For other women, symptoms may develop over a few weeks or may not be present at all. Below is a listing of some of the most common pregnancy symptoms.

1) Missed Menstrual Period
A missed menstrual cycle can be a sign of pregnancy. It is usually the first indicator of pregnancy, although some women claim to know they are pregnant before they miss a period.
2) Tender Breasts
Tender swollen breasts are another early symptom. While tender breasts are a symptom of an impending menstrual cycle, enlarged breasts are not. Sore and swollen breasts with a tingling sensation can be an early indicator of pregnancy.
3) Nausea and Morning Sickness
morning sicknessNausea associated with morning sickness can be a sign that a woman is pregnant. Many women say that they've had nausea up to two weeks before an expected menstrual period and before any other symptom. Eating crackers before getting out of the bed in the morning can help with morning sickness and eating several smaller meals instead of larger ones can help with nausea related to morning sickness.

4) Fatigue
Extreme fatigue can be another indicator of pregnancy, especially if other symptoms are present. A nap a day can help a pregnant woman maintain normal daily activities.
5) Frequent Urination
Frequent urination in pregnancy usually occurs between 6 to 8 weeks after conception.
6) Headaches
pregnancy symptomsHeadaches in pregnancy are a common symptom and begin at about the 6th week. A quick nap can help prevent headaches while pregnant. Preeclampsia or toxemia can begin with headache and can be dangerous to a pregnant woman. If you are pregnant and have this symptom, be sure to call your health care provider immediately.
7) Spotting
Spotting is a common symptom in pregnancy. Some women report what seems to be a short light period before the onset of other symptoms. This may be implantation bleeding and not a menstrual period at all (when the egg implants itself into the lining of the uterus). If you are pregnant and you experience spotting check in with your doctor as spotting is also an indicator of miscarriage.
8) Light Headedness
Some pregnant women experience actual fainting and light headedness during early pregnancy.
9) Constipation
Hormonal changes can affect the digestive system and cause constipation. Drinking plenty of water and exercising can help. A pregnant woman should ask her doctor for recommended exercises while pregnant.
10) Heartburn
Heartburn can be symptom in months 1-9. In months 1-4, heartburn is caused by hormonal changes. In months 5-9, the baby can cause pressure on a pregnant woman's organs. Eating frequent smaller meals and remaining in an upright position at least an hour after eating can help.
In pregnancy, with some fathers-to-be, it is difficult for them to understand the life that is within their mate. It is beneficial for the mother and father to be at the first ultrasound together as it seems to help fathers-to-be form a mental picture when they see movement of their baby on the ultrasound screen. Anticipation soon grows!
