Hello, I am looking to get a van/campa and travel around europe for 1-2 months with a friend. Will be on a buget of around £1500 each (not including van cost). I don't know really where to go or where to start my planning (even finding a cheap van). Can anyone help please?

Try interrail - you can get an open rail ticket that will let you jump on any train in europe whenever you want. It'll save you a lot of hassle with buying and maintaining the van. (the train system in europe is a lot better than the one in the UK)

I went interrailing in 2002 and went to from London to:
Paris, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg City and back to Paris and London. It took just over three weeks and was a really good trip. We didn't really plan anything, we just made it up as we went along.

You've got a bit more time than us so maybe you could add in a bit of Spain or Italy.

I did this after I finished Uni, Inter-railing for a month round Europe. It is a bit daunting but it's amazing , you meet so many people and it is really good fun. It's also a great confidence booster, I felt like I could take on any situation when I got back. I stayed in Youth Hostels and the odd strange place , a nunnery in Como...that was weird. (You need to stay in places where you will meet like minded people). You obviously have to be a bit sensible and not get yourself into dodgy situations, but the majority of people I met were great. Go for it!

You have three main options: Driving, in which case your are probably better of buying a second hand car/van. Look through Loot or the classifieds of your local paper. Alternatively, you can rent - find the car rentals in your area and see what they say. The second option is to get a European bus pass. I know Euorlines do bus passes http://www.eurolines.com/ ranging from £115 to £299 depending on how old your are, when you travel and how long you travel. The third option is an interrail ticket for European train travel http://www.interrail.com/.

Have a look in TNT or Southern Cross magazines - there are very often camper vans for sale in there.
Can't really give any advice on your route as I don't know which countries you would like to visit - you can't do them ALL in two months. Your budget sounds OK but don't forget that petrol can be expensive and will use up a lot of your money.
Have fun!

Avoid the Autoroutes in France; they're expensive.
