The problem sounds like a hardware problem inside you laptop - could be something as simple as a fuse blown - or complex like your battery has had it. There are some places now that specialise in laptop repairs and it's not as expensive as it used to be. Even your local dealer may be able to fix a power supply problem.

You didn't state the brand & model of your laptop. This would've been helpful in determining your problem.

The only thing I can suggest would be to unplug your power cord (from the laptop) and remove the battery. Leave it this way for at least two hours to ensure that the internal capacitors have fully discharged. The only battery that will still be working is the CMOS battery (this keeps your motherboard settings intact). After these two hours or so, reinstall the battery, plug in the power cord and try to restart. If your laptop fails to boot, then you have an internal problem that will need to be repaired by a competant Technician.

Is your battery charged? If you're running off the mains adaptor, is your battery attached and in good condition? Sounds like a fault with the battery to me...

Is it possibly overheating ....if you leave it for sometime ..can you then restart it ? if so check if the cooling fan inside is working and the vents are not blocked

The other option is a power issue .....either the battery is not charging or the power unit is dead

Check the battery and power supply - your battery might be flat or your adapter might have given up the ghost.
