I can only answer for the UK. Yes agency staff have the same rights under employment law as permanent staff. This includes the same rights to holidays, meal breaks, protection against unfair dismissal etc. Employment law is an implied term of any employment contract and as such cannot be ignored by an employer.

However you may be subject to different explicit terms and conditions to a permanent employee under your contract of employment. Again though these must be fair and reasonable. If you take up any employment make sure you receive a contract of employment at the earliest opportunity. If you believe there is anything unfair within the contract seek advice from a union or advice bureau.

absolutely no you do not ,you are a temp worker who can be let go with no notice at all unless you have some kind of written contract with the employer your working for at the time .you can be working side by side with a permanent worker doing the same job and more and they can be earning £10 an hour more than you and its perfectly legal.

no, most agency staff are employed on a contract for services rather than a contract of employment.

there have been alot of improvements to agency staff rights, NMW going up each year (although alot of smaller business's would argue that it is to ther detriment of their profitability), maternity rights, holiday pay entitlements, SSP is available...etc

national min wage NMW, SSP stat sick pay...sorry...
