Throw them out of the league. Sends a message that this type of behaviour is not tolerated.

If it's a youth league in the US..

They should automatically lose their coaching cards, per USA Hockey..

Bottom line is you can't have a couple of coaches 'dropping the gloves' regardless of the reason..

To allow one or both to remain on the bench condones their actions and sends the wrong message to the players and sends the wrong image about the organization..

If it's a pro or collegiate level, than the proper human resource steps as defined by the organization need to be followed, mostly to protect the organization from legal liabilities

Depends on the circumstances. Are they minor hockey coaches? Was it during a game or in the arena after a game? Does your organization have a "Head Organization"? Seems that there should be some sort of rules for disciplinary action. Maybe criminal charges need to be laid. All in all, it sounds very juvenile - especially if these were grown men.

At my work, any two parties who fight physically are terminated. There's a no tolerance policy and even if an employee is just threatened, the offender is fired.

You'd throw team members out for fighting. Unfortunately, the right thing to do is let both coaches go.

wow that's pretty crazy are you sure you still want them coaching it doesn't sound very professional to me if they were my kids coaches i would remove my child from the team until they were gone I know it's hard to find coaches but these guys or girls don't deserve to teach kids anything let alone hockey

Look in mha websites to see if there are standard rules. these guys are supposed to be role models - do you want them showing your kids to act like that?

I'd say ban them from the games for the year.

whoever lost the fight, gets fired.
whoever won the fight, has to take over ALL coaching responsabilities, with no assisstant coach etc.
Clearly the winning coach is way more passionate about his/her job than the other coach

During a game? I'd toss them out for a year minimum.
