I guess the answer to your question depends on what world you're talking about, whether it be the human world or just the earth in general. If it's the earth itself, it has 4.5million years left to go before the sun starts to "die" itself. When the sun is in its final stages of "life" if you will, it will expand to many times its current size and it's gravitational grip on the other planets will end up engulfing and destroying Mercury, Venus, and then the earth itself.
