I don't think there is anything wrong with talking to yourself. I do it sometimes when I have a lot on my mind. It helps you to organise your thoughts and sometimes I even asnwer myself, consider yourself lucky you don't do that!

This is quite normal, everybody does it at some time.
You run through in your head likely scenarios, you work out answers, you plan actions. You have imaginary conversation with a girl friend. This is all talking to yourself. Some do it out loud some do it in their head.
I find it a good way to get sleep by going over a conversation that I might have with a person. I do the same conversation every night and bore myself to sleep.
Never take drugs for anything unless as a last resort.
If it really bothers you seek professional help.

Its when you start answering yourself you should worry. No really, if you're on your own and you know the people are not real and its just your way of getting through the day, then why not. You seem to realise that this would seem odd if someone else was in the room, so I think you are perfectly sane. If it really worries you see your GP. I'm sure you will be reassured that it's normal. I had a phase when I was cooking of giving a running commentary as if I was doing a cookery programme. I soon grew out of it when I was sharing a house!

I talk to myself all the time, it's the only way I can get intelligent conversation for the most part. (It also stems from being bored).
It's also a good way to work out problems in your life or little details that you need to take care of. Some times, hearing something out loud puts things in prospective for you and opens up ideas to problems that otherwise, you wouldn't have thought of.
I don't take drugs for the 'talking to myself' and wouldn't even dream of it.
The best thing about it is, if I'm ever wrong, no one else will know, And if I'm angry and just spouting off, I don't have to worry about apologizing to anyone because I yelled at them.

i was glad when i found this question!! i thought i was only person who does it! actually i conjure up stories and talk to a 'person' (usually a family member or someone close to me) i generally find i do this in the mirror and talk to my reflection and it can sometimes be quite emotional. i do feel strangely satisfied afterwards though and often if its something that has been bothering me i feel like my head is sorted out. i think it must be your brains natural way of dealing with things as often i don't share my emotions with others (especially when sad) and put on a front instead. sometimes its just complete fantasy though and i'm the star of the show! i know i would die if someone ever saw me but i don't think i could give up! i'm glad its a more common thing that i thought! i think my friends would be perceive me as a pretty grounded person with a love of life so i can't be going mad!(i hope!) happy chatting!

Don't worry so much. Everyone does this a little bit. There is nothing wrong with it, you are fine and perfectly normal. Heavens you don't need treatment! It's your way of externalising the dialogue you have with yourself as you think about stuff, it serves a useful purpose because as your thoughts are put into words they become more defined and clear. It is no more unhealthy than dreaming when you're asleep.

It's healthy to talk to yourself as it's a great way to get stuff sorted out. When you actually hear the words it helps give closure to a problem and enables you to move on. Also, you very rarely argue with yourself and you're never wrong. It totally rocks

Hey there is nothing wrong in this, I do it all the time when I am on my own, it seems to help me from forgetting things and sorting things out in my mind. Some times its the only sensible conversation I have all week!
HOWEVER, its when you start arguing with yourself, then that's the time to worry and get help! lol

I think it's our way of making sense of the world! I regularly talk to myself when alone, and find it helps me get things in perspective. At least it's better than talking to the wall or microwave like Shirley Valentine..

I imagine that people I know are watching what I do through my eyes and what I'm thinking occasionally. I explain why I'm doing things and where I am to them.
I think everyone has a "quirk" about them. Don't worry about it too much.
