i live in the south and thankfully SOME still exist - sir, ma'am, miss or mister so and so. however the reality - boys aren't taught to hold open doors, men/boys do not remove their hats in restuarants let alone at the National anthem we could go on and on. unfortunately, people are too concerned with getting where they are going or climbing higher on the ladder at work to care about anothers feelings. people are so busy trying to be PC they forget to be the old fashioned pc -- personally considerate. it's sad but it's reality.

Manners do still exist. There has been some moral decay, but I see common courtesy on a daily basis. There have always been jerks.

I agree with you that less importance seems to be attached to courtesy these days. Fortunately though there are still people out there who hold on to good manners and courtesy.

I think we may have to put them on a list over endangered things in this world. It sure seems like good manners are about to die out. Ok, there's still some hope and still some nice people who hold on to their good manners, but it seems like those people are fewer than before.

What happen to good manners is a lack of respect. Everyone thinks about themselve during the fast pace of life today, concerning children, the parents are younger with no sense of direction. "Kids raising Kids".

It's becoming a 'dog eat dog' world. Where things like common courtesy are going out the window. $--Power--Respect

good manners still exist though me too is of the opinion that slowly it's fading...maybe it's attributable to some reasons that parents now have little time to teach their children the importance of good manners...

Parents don't insist their kids use them. I have a four year old in my class who told her mum she doesn't care if she has to spend the whole day in the office, she's not going to say please to me. Very frustrating.. Mind you, she never used to even say hello or goodbye, and she does now. So there's hope yet. I think parents are so worried that they're going to stifle their kid's independent spirits that they don't notice that they're raising little turds.

Ask your parents since they are the people who should have taught you good manners
