It doesn't surprise me at all that the Ministry of Defence wished to conceal from public view its investigations into UAP's (Unexplained Aerial Phenomena). The secrecy here is entirely divorced from the subject matter, and in fact relates to the normal secrecy rules which apply to any Intelligence matters, whether of a Defence nature or otherwise. The more that gets out into the public domain, the harder it becomes for the Intelligence services to operate unhindered.
While one has to keep an open mind regarding UAP's, it's also important to remember that the Ministry of Defence really can't win. When it refused to release any papers relating to UAP's, all the 'UFO' enthusiasts cried 'cover up' and asked what the MOD knew. When the MOD releases papers which show not a great deal, they're accused of concealing the really interesting stuff in the name of secrecy. And when the MOD releases its own internal reports which essentially say 'we haven't found any evidence of spacecraft or alien life', the UFO people say 'well, you would say that, wouldn't you?' So the MOD, like most public bodies, just can't win, and will be criticised whatever it does.
On a purely personal and speculative note, it's always appeared to me that it's a bit too convenient for UAP's to be 'alien' spacecraft. Why do people assume alien life-forms would appear as humanoids and fly craft which assume recognisable, if slightly different, forms to us? Who's to say that life-forms alien to this planet, if they exist, would necessarily appear in forms that we could even comprehend? Such life-forms might exist in different planes of physcial reality to those we currently understand. Just a thought.
To my mind, it's always been more likely that the majority of the genuinely 'Unexplained' aerial phenomena relate to Cold War experiments with aerial vehicles by the Americans and Russians (eg. Stealth technologies, or aerial vehicles using methods of dynamic counterbary). The reason we didn't know anything about them, and hence the MOD investigated them, is because the UK just wasn't important enough to the two superpowers. Just another thought!

If the unidentified flying merchandise's were a danger to mankind then sure yet i ask your self are those sightings only with regard to the u . s . a . ??? which different us of a has sighted such flying gadgets?are there any records registered different then the u . s . a . ? i'm extra prepared about area yet when the unidentified flying merchandise's r somewhat inflicting some damage to mankind regularly then sure a ideal analyze wud be welcome. If the NASA is arising up some farce or no longer something then it is going to likely be a waste of time, money and power. If yahoo information has suggested the unidentified flying merchandise images, in the experience that they r valid ones then sure the u . s . a . shud supposedly start up with the analyze. possibly we wud get to a pair end about another planets existance and the choose for them to invade our planet. also i imagine if those unidentified flying merchandise's can come to our planet how stepped ahead their technologies will be for they cud actually come to our planet, while we r only contained in the fledgling state of exploring the gap. we've discovered many planets and nevertheless pondering over lifes existance in the international like Mars or a chance that Jupiter often is the subsequent planet to have existence began. yet thus far we've no longer reached the planets from which those unidentified flying merchandise's start up their experience.

Just had a glimpse at the link, Not surprised at all, Ufo stuff is kept under ground, their paranoid of the chaos it would cause. If someone took an amazing photo of an Alien craft tomorrow, it would be dismissed as an elaborate hoax!!

No, it doesn't surprise me, but I'm not bothered. The MOD needs to keep secrets, or other nations will know too much about us. They had their reasons for keeping this investigation secret, but it was only an investigation. They didn't exactly meet aliens now, did they?

I've been reading literature on this subject of nearly 50 years. Most of it is rubbish, but sufficient still remains unresolved for me to continue my interest.
I believe UFO's are visitors from the future, or perhaps even another dimension.
The history of UFO's goes back thousands of years.

when the MOD cam send troops into battle without the correct equipment and yet still spend £500 for a comfy chair to sit on to make these cuts for the troops, how can anyone be surprised by anything they do.

No, that fact doesn't surprise me. I am also not surprised that thousands of sightings were not investigated. Why bother investigating when you already know what it is (and, no, they weren't all "unusual weather conditions" or other natural phenomenon)? The truth is out there.

Journalists have always to be outraged about information that is not available to them and speculate wildly on why. MOD and security services have to investigate every possibility and this is a good peacetime activity to test their capabilities. To imagine more seems to me to be akin to paranoia.

It doesn't surprise me in the least...and what would the reaction of the general public have been if they knew the truth?
There are reasons why some information is not broadcast....ever heard of mass hysteria or panic!

No not particularly. Of course they don't want everyone to know that they investigate it. I'm sure that aliens do exist, now it's up to someone to prove it. I guess that is what they are doing and don't want anyone to know whilst they are doing it to avoid being a laughing stock.
