Both are great for different reasons.
White Stripes for being fairly unique (at least when they started now bands that sound like them are ten a penny) and for having a sexy drummer.
Raconteurs for sounding like the band are actually enjoying it and not just putting out another record because they are a band and that's what bands do.

Well, if we compare the bands by points of goodness, i'd have to say the white stripes. Since the White Stripes have been around since 1997, they have managed to accumulate many many points of goodness, the Raconteurs (or Saboteurs) on the other hand have only recently formed, and despite having Jack, Brendan Benson and also Jack and Patrick from the Greenhornes with their many points of accumulated goodness, they are a completely new band and therefore have to start fresh with their accumulated points of goodness. In the short time of being around, there is no way they have collected as many points, there fore The White Stripes are better. Who knows, if this super band hangs around for another 9 years or so, maybe, just maybe they could become better then the red and white duo, which jack originated from.

white stripes are much more original. the raconteurs seems just like a bunch of friends of jack white that want the spotlight to be shed on them even though jack white is still the centerpiece. the raconteurs without jack white would be nothing. my eyes says the white stripes are better :-)

Hhhmmm...that's a hard one.
Jack White is a very talented musician in both bands.
I have been a fan of The White Stripes for a couple of years now
and I know their music well and could pick out good tracks by them. As for the Raconteurs, I only discovered them around March this year, Steady As She Goes amazed me! Adrenilline fuelled anthem!! It would be compared to Seven Nation Army of the Stripes, I couldn't possiblly decide!

I havent seen white stripes live but raconteurs were fantastic at reading festival, they need more material to be compared properly though i think
