i'm doing a lab reprt and would like any information that would help me on.

If you just want to know if it's basic or acidic, then litmus paper will solve your problem. But if you need to know the specific pH, then your'e going to need a pH meter or pH strips. You can also compute for the pH by using the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation: pH = pKa + log(salt/acid).

Ph-metter , Lacmus Paper are the most commonly used

you can also culculate the Ph if you know the matters you have in the matter you want to chack.

for reaction A + H --------> AH
you do the - Log ([A][H]/[AH]) and you will get the PH.

Either by measurement of cations or anions. That means measuring the amount of H+ or OH- ions which actually determine the pH.

We already discussed that in our bio class... We simple used pH paper... 1-4 (acidic), 7(neutral), 8-14(basic)
