First, in most states, we are NOT required to show up in traffic court. One of the biggest problems we have in society right no is the LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY. You admit you were speeding. What would prompt you to make a statement like " I broke the law but shouldn't be held accountable"? Go to court, stand in front of the judge and tell him you want to be the first one to admit you were breaking the law and you just wanted to get it on record because you have a problem with people not taking responsibility. Believe it or not, he would probably let you off.

Check if the ticket is factually correct.
I once got rid of a ticket that way.
Just to clarify.
I got a ticket one day saying I got flashed at road X in the town next to mine (on the administrative border of two towns) I found it quite odd as It was while coming home from work.
The road splits up at the point where I was flashed and I usually went home through the other street that was allready officially in my town. So I went to the police station and asked for them to show me the picture of the offence. They did at which point I handed them back their fine with the kind request to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. The ticket itself said that I was speeding on road X in the neighbouring town while I actually was on road Y in my town. The facts on a ticket have to be correct

Get a lawyer . It will cost less. He will delay things and by the time you go to court the policeman will not show up.

You're screwed. Take some responsibility for your actions, pay your ticket, and don't speed.
