I've had this same problem.. for me it was the power connector, where it plugs into the computer. it broke loose from the mother board. Had to bring it in and have it resoldered.. and then it worked fine again.. It's a common problem with laptops because there being plug in and unplugged all the time.. and often we put then on our laps while there plugged in and pull on the cord, when moving around.

could be that power supply cord-they go bad sometimes. make sure all the connections are secure before u run out to buy a new one. might be able to keep using it if u unplug and plug it back in etc.

Try and disconnect the power and also remove the battery. Then recoonect and try - it should work.
If same problem, battery may be shot
