First change the lube in the lower unit. This is done to make sure there is no water in it. Start it up and run the carburetor dry. Then turn it over while spraying fogging oil into the intake, This is to keep it from rusting inside. Then store it out of the elements and you are done.

First, hook up a hose and earmuffs to the water intake before starting to empty the carbs. Never run an outboard without water. It will overheat the block and probably ruin the water pump impeller. Leave the motor tilted down and it will naturally drain the engine. Next, pull the plugs and fog the cylinders. Replace the plugs. Drain and refill the lower unit with hypoid 85w90 gear oil. If there is still fuel in the tank, add fuel stabilizer. If 4 cycle, now is a good time to change oil in crankcase. If electric start, charge battery and store with cables disconnected to retain charge. You should be fine until spring.

never run your engine out of gas! Put fuel stabelizer in a tank of fuel run that into the engine. While running fuel stabelizer into the engine either hav the engine sitting in a bat of radiator fluid or hook a hose up to the flush point on the engine(you will need a bilge pump for this) to push out excess watter and dillute all other water in the engine. Then change your oil in the main part of the engine and in the lower unit. The lowere unit is really important because it will most likely have a half a cup or more of water in it depending on the age and size of the motor. A half a cup of water would however be enough to crack your lower unit. make sure u fill the lower unit from the bottom up. Finnaly spray your carborator with storage sealent to prevent coorosion. If your engine is fuel injected spray the air intake.

FLUSH
FOG
Change lower unit oil, and spark plugs, spray wd-40 on engine (Light fast spray), store tilted down (so water drains from the block, remove battery and store it inside.
Boat: wash down, wax if you have time, cover
Cover: The boat should be covered so that rain water can't get in, but air can, this eliminates rot and moisture from forming ( cover should look like a tent over the boat.)

You need to run the motor with antifreeze into the engine Block, otherwise you risk the engine Block freezing and cracking.
I use a 12 volt bildge bump and setup a collection bag and run 4 gallons of antifreeze through the engine
It is best to also cover the boat and store inside.
