I CAUGHT A VIRUS ON MY COMPUTER AND HAD TO DO A SYSTEM RECOVERY/RESTORE ON IT AND NOW MY SPEAKERS WON'T WORK. I WENT INTO CONTROL PANEL AND TO THE AUDIO DEVICE ICON. IT SAYS NO AUDIO DEVICE AND I CAN'T EVEN CLICK ON ANY OF THE SETTINGS. IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I CAN DO? I'VE TRIED UPDATING THE DRIVERS THAT I KNOW GO TO THE AUDIO, BUT IM NOT TO BRIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO, " STEP BY STEP". PLEASE HELP??

You will first need to find out if you have onboard audio or an installed sound card. After you find this out, you can download the driver from the mfg website.

You are missing the sound card drivers.. the easiest thing to do is go to the manufacturers website, download the drivers and install them. Most drives come as an executable that will install the drivers for you.

Just had to do this for a client, his machine was a Dell, went to the website, downloaded drivers, installed drivers, rebooted, and VIOLA' sound...

If you have External sound card then simply reinstall its driver after unstalling tht previous one.

IF you have onboard soundcard then i m telling

step by step method

1. right click on *my computer*

2.properties

3. hardware

4. device manger

5.now you can see the console tree of ur installed hardwares

6. now right click on ..USER (comp name..thrs a [] comp. drwn over thr)

7. scan for new hardwares...

8. this would find new hardware (like soundcard)

and you are all done!

hope this wld solve all of your problems :))
