I am using these two. The good thing about googlepages is there will be no advertisements on ur site. It will be clean and perfectly urs. But the problem is there will be less options. U can design very less part as ur own. for example, the background etc.
freewebs has good features such as a counter and guest book etc. I am using both of the features. U can also code it if u can. It provides both PHP and mySql.

You first need to "code" the web page... if you have time try a HTML tutorial... you'll just need a text editor like notepad... if you don't have time but money, then buy Microsoft FrontPage or some other programm..
afterwards you need some space, even free or paid...

try www.geocities.com. it has a user friendly program called pagebuilder. simple as drag and drop. any featherbrain with 1/2 a lick of sense can do it. just be creative. for extra tools try www.bravenet.com. they give you the html code based on your entrys. simply copy and paste. also try www.yahbonez.com. there on my site you can find HTML tools to help you create fantastic sites as well as flash programs. morphers, data editors, fragmentors, streamliners, documented tutorials to teach you the mehods behind basic HTML.

Search the internet for HTML tutorials. HTML is the markup language that you will be using. Take note that HTML is not a programming language, it is a markup language. There is a big difference.

Microsoft Office FrontPage is one of the best programs. You can use WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) to make your pages, or HTML.
