I'm only going by the information we receive via newspapers and newscasts but I can't recall anyone from those countries saying anything intentionally humorous. They seem to have a handle on rage, though. Has the violence that has befallen many of these countries for so many generations sucked the humor out of their systems or does their culture provide little room for chuckles? Where would an Iraqi standup hone his craft? "How many Shiites does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"...etc.

Arabs, contrary to popular belief, do have a sense of humor--but a very whacky and lame one. I know many Arabs, and I can honestly say that Arabs are not that funny. They think they're funny, but they're really not. Their comedies are quite a travesty! And they do try to copy westerners in their comedies.

again u have fallen for the generalization fallacy. What you see on t.v is what you think really happens.
My friend reality is not on tv - checkout the news, what you usually see is all negative or bad. News is about wars, murders, hurricanes, tusnamis etc so do not expect the arabic version of Jay Leno to pop out of the middle east segment and throw a joke your way.

Not reallly They have been laughing all the way to the bank for the last 50 odd years as they control (despite our best or worst) efforts the world oil supply.

personally I know folks from Yemen. and they are constantly laughing. usually thier laughter orients around greed. like all nations people adapt in humor in many ways. but on the lighter side if you had to stare at a camels *** all day while sand blew up your *** , would you be laughing?

i dont think arabic countries has under developed sence of humor...i am sure they all laugh which shows they have humor. but may be they dont have a humors of sex since it is forbidden in their religion... correct me if i am wrong ....
