Note: If your answer is "no". Is there other device that would work the same as the DSL splitter and yet suitable for the dial-up internet conncection?

You need two lines, or at least a simulation, so you can use DSL splitter... if you have dsl, then it separates the ordinary dsl line and the phone line, if you use isdn you can have severall lines, one for the phone and one for the internet.. the only sollution is a programm (search on the net) telling you when a call is coming,but then you'll still need to disconect from the internet to take the call.. or change to dsl;)

Not a dsl splitter but I have seen devices that will allow you to pick up the phone and use it and it will put the dial up internet on hold while you make the call, then when you hang up it will regain connection. Just look around

Yes, you can. I have ATT DSL. and I split the signal, that's why they send you several filters.
