Was Skinny Dipping really normally in the USA Scholl and Uni Swimhalls and with the YMCA?

Was there not, really, a time where in the swimming halls trunks gladly were seen and the men and boys were asked or it just normally without swimming the trunks?

I know that it was with the YMCA as I was a member at one time.
I was also a teen-ager at the time and did not know the word "gay", and still wish I didn't..

For a very long time most local YMCA has indoor swimming pools you were not permitted to wear swimming trunks. They told you that the material were clog the filter system used to clean the water. when i was teen our local YMCA had this ruled
