Not clear what this expression is, can't help you even if I wanted to. Is the 16^x + 1 together on the top or is it 16^x added to 1/3^x?

Assuming that there should be brackets around 16^x+1, the answer is 0.8237438631, but I don't have time right now to explain.

hey listen,
u can write the above expression as
taking log both sides we get
log(4^2/8)^x =log16^x +log3^(-2x)
applying property of log
x log2=x(log16-log9)
put the values
log2=0.3010
log 3=0.4771

Roger that. Same comment as celloman. Use more parenthesis so that there's no confusion.

It'd be nice if there was a really slick math editor here. But, then, if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their αsses when they landed ☺

4^2x/8^x=16^x+1/3^2x
2^4x/2^3x=2^4x+4/3^2x
2^(4x-3x)=2^4x+4/3^2x
2^x=2^4x+4/3^2x
log2^x=log(2^4x+4/3^2x)
log2^x=log2^4x+4-log3^2x
xlog2=4x+4log2-2xlog3
x(0.301)=4x+4(0.301)-2x(0.477)
0.301x=1.204x+1.204-0.954x
0.301x=0.25x+1.204
0.301x-0.25x=1.204
0.051x=1.204
x=1.204/0.051
x=23.6
