Monsters with 5 or more stars require a tribute to summon them, but, according to the rules, a set isn't a summon. So can I set high level monsters without a tribute?

If such a monster was summoned onto the field with the necessary tribute, but then returned to the owners hand by a spell, would that card require another tribute to summon it on the field again?

To Set a monster is still considered as a Normal Summon. Tribute Summoning is considered as a Normal Summon. You can Normal Summon only once in each of your turns. You must tribute one monster to Normal Summon or Set a Level 5 or 6 monster. You must tribute two monsters to Normal Summon or Set a Level 7 or higher-Level monster. Don't listen to those who say that you must tribute three monsters to Normal Summon or Set a Level 9 or higher-Level monster, they are thinking about the Egyptian God Cards and that's not the same thing. Check the rulebook.

EVERY DECK HAS A CHANCE TO WIN.AS LONG AS YOU BELIEVE IN TO THE HEART OF THE CARD.Thats exactly what Yugi says in the PC game called YUGI-OH PC.It was really great and really fun,coz it needs more strategies of the players, determination, and luck to win the match.By the way,you asked if the five-stars monster require a tribute summon even if you are going to sets it only. The answer of course is YES.But I can also say that you will be needed again to require a tribute summon when that monster is returned to your hand by the effect of any spell, traps, and effect-monster.I hope I helped you solving your question, yeah?Ok.I hope you've come prepare because its time to duel!!!!!!!

All monsters with 5 stars or more require tributes each time you play them unless they state otherwise. Even if you set it facedown you still must sacrifice monsters to do so. Accoring to the rules you can either set or normal summon but not both in the same turn.

Not if you special summon it, and even though it doesn't say anything about a tribute to summon them you still need a sacrifice.

2 if 6stars.
3 if 8stars.
4 if 10.
and only 1 if 5stars.
